The daily highlight is a productivity concept in the book 'Make Time' by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky.
Each day you have to pick a daily highlight, which is the most important task on your to-do list. You have to complete that task during the day no matter what, and you can excuse yourself even though you couldn't go through all the other tasks on the to-do list.
The daily highlight doesn't have to be the most time-consuming task on your tasks list, it just has to be an important task that helps you to achieve your short or long-term dreams. The power of this method is it gives you satisfaction and motivation about your work during the day because you have completed your most important task for the day. It is much better than having a packed to-do list and not completing anything at all.
But take a task you can complete within the given time because if you choose a complex task that takes few days to complete, it might ultimately demotivate you because you couldn't even complete your daily highlight. But you can always divide that task into few pieces and do them on separate days. The important thing is to choose a task that is realistic to do within the given time.
